Hadiza Blell aka Di’ja, who’s half Sierra Leonean and Nigerian has recently opened up about her journey to music stardom in an interview on Coke Studio Africa.
Similar to other celebrities, Di’ja confessed that things weren’t easy for her. Some of the jobs she did before she blew up include waitressing & being a mascot at children’s parties to fund her music. Encouraging young people not to give up on their dreams even when they fail. She also added that young people should work, pray and persevere.
She said, I’ve tried and failed a lot of things in the past, same with music, I don’t even think am good at it as much yet, I’m still getting there but I’ve failed many many times. Find what you are good at, practice every day, fail at it many times until you are good at it.
Di’Ja is currently signed as an ambassador to
telecom giant,Glo.

A policeman in Lagos, on Wednesday night, shot at a moving tricycle along Isheri/Ijegun road, killing the wife of the operator, Idongesit Ekpo, who was nursing a three month old child. The reason for opening fire? Well, the husband refused to part with the appropriate amount of bribe as he insisted that the people in the tricycle were not paying passengers, but his family members.
According to eyewitnesses, the tricycle operator was returning from church with his wife and four children between the ages of 1 and 12 in the tricycle, when the police corporal flagged him down asking for the usual N100 bribe. Ekpo, the man driving the tricycle, instead, handed the policeman a N20 note and drove on. The policeman with no regard for even the little children in the tricycle opened
fire on the departing vehicle. At least one bullet passed through Mrs Ekpo’s skull, killing her on the spot, while her husband was hit in the jaw.
Doctors are said to be fighting to keep Mr. Ekpo alive. As for the policeman, when he realized how bad the situation was, he alerted his team members and they all fled the scene.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, thereafter ordered the immediate arrest of members of the team on duty that night. The arrested team members include Sergeant Benson Ahambo, Corporal Augustine Telenundu, Corporal Onu Samuel and Corporal Musefun Aremu.
The children of Mr Ekpo, fortunately escaped unharmed – Mary, 12; Blessing, 9; Abraham, 7; and 11-month-old Elijah – and were at the Area ‘M’ command under police protection.

The latest SIM cards re-registration exercise forced upon telecommunication operators by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is generating controversy about the motive of the exercise. Daily Trust reports.
Recall, a similar exercise was carried out in 2013 which had cost Nigeria N6.2billion.
About 100 million subscribers were registered at the time.
Rumours have started to make the round from Telecom operators that the NCC had lost the data base from that exercise and that its current directive is an indirect way of embarking on a fresh one.
However, the commission said its records and documents are all clean, and the GSM operators are ganging up to malign it.
The National Assembly in 2011 approved N6.2 billion for the NCC to conduct SIM registration aimed at stemming the tide of
rising crimes. Tens of millions of Nigerians filed out and registered their SIM cards and the database gathered during that exercise
was passed on to the NCC.
The exercise ended in June 2013 but SIM card registration was allowed to continue at the points of purchase. Two years on the NCC has now asked Nigerians to re- register their SIMs again. This has made some analysts and observers to begin to ask questions as to what had happened to the initial exercise.
There was no official comment from NCC as
at press time yesterday. The Director of
Public Affairs Mr Tony Ojobo did not answer calls made to his phone. He also did not
reply to a text message sent to him.
A senior NCC official, who sought anonymity told reporters that the directive affects only 47 million subscribers who did not do their registration properly two years ago.
He said: The telecoms operators are being mischievous because we only asked them to do what they failed to do properly. Criminals are
capitalizing on this to commit crimes and we said: look, do this thing very well.”
“operators are only going about maligning the commission because they were penalized when they failed the deadline given them.
“Due to the dubious way they went about doing the SIM registration, we asked them to repeat it in the areas we found inconsistencies.”
“Look, we have been telling them to correct and update their SIM registration data since December last year. “When NCC filtered through the database, we discovered that the
operators, in a bid to have more subscribers, did the SIM registration haphazardly.
“We discovered many inconsistencies. About 47m did not have their photo captured very
well. They registered goats, yams and even masquerades. That was why we told them to correct all the anomalies.
“NCC is not expending any money again; it is the operators that are now doing what they did not do well in the first instance.
“So, we have not spent anything and the money budgeted for the first exercise was judiciously used; we have our records and
documents.”

The corruption scandal at the Federation of
International Football Associations (FIFA)
continues to produce new culprits everyday.
The latest is secretary-general Jerome Valcke, who was on Thursday suspended and relieved of his duties by the body.
A FIFA statement read: “FIFA today announced that its Secretary General
Jerome Valcke has been put on leave and released from his duties effective immediately until further notice. Further, FIFA has been made aware of a series of allegations involving the Secretary General and has requested a formal investigation by the FIFA Ethics Committee.”
Valcke was alleged to have colluded with a firm with sold tickets at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, JB Sports Marketing, to sell tickets on the black market for 3 times their prices.
Valcke has already denied the allegations, through a statement by his lawyers.
Making a baby hasn’t been so easy for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, and she’s tired of explaining to people.
The supermodel revealed her struggles on daytime talk show FABLife, on which she’s a
co-host.
“Every single time I sit down for an interview with anybody…the questions just come from all over,” 29-year old Teigen said.
“It’s kind of crazy because I can’t imagine
being that nosy to be like, ‘So, when are
the kids coming?’ because who knows what somebody’s going through,” she added.
“John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened,” she admitted. “But my gosh, it’s been a process.”
While the persecution continues to get Oscar Pistorius tried again for murder, his lawyer is trying to get the new trial cancelled.
Pistorius’ lawyer, Barry Roux, argued to the South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal that a new trial would too long.
According to Roux, the reliability and objectivity of another trial would be contaminated by the overwhelming public scrutiny that followed the first hearing.
Roux also added that the first trial had left the paralympic athlete financially drained, and thus couldn’t afford a new trial.
Another of his arguments was that Pistorius had already been cleared of murder on the same evidence that the prosecution was going to present again. The persecution had been unhappy with Oscar Pistorius being punished for culpable homicide, and keep trying to get him jailed for murder.
The Court of Appeal will make its decision
known in November.
